Multiple Sclerosis has many and varied symptoms. One of these is the body’s inability to regulate its core temperature.
After witnessing the benefits being gained by those living with Multiple Sclerosis when using the Iceepak Australia Ice Vest / Cool Vest, we have been actively educating Occupational Therapists and Multiple Sclerosis Co-ordinators as well as visiting Multiple Sclerosis support groups throughout Australia in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, ACT and Northern Territory.
By demonstrating the Ice Vest / Cool Vest first hand, patients not only learn how to fit and wear the Ice Vest correctly, they are also able to try on the Ice Vest with the Flexible Ice Blankets. This is when they experience the dramatic cooling effect it has on their core temperature as it helps lower and maintain a more stable temperature level within their body. By regulating and not overheating the body the Ice Vest also addresses the serious side effects of heat stress such as fatigue, nausea, headaches and decision making in the work place and at home.
The Flexible Ice Blanket will not freeze the skin as it does not freeze below 0℃. Some Multiple Sclerosis patients do not need to freeze the Flexible Ice Blanket and only cool them in the refrigerator to attain benefit. Depending upon your circumstances extra sets of cells can be kept frozen or chilled for continued use over many hours.
Due to the implementation of NDIS it has become necessary for Multiple Sclerosis patients to be assessed and approved by an Occupational Therapist to be eligible for NDIS funding.
